MYTH: The B.C. government wants this pipeline no matter the environmental cost.
FACT: Pipelines are required to undergo exhaustive environmental studies to ensure they meet stringent guidelines. This is not a “rubber stamp” process by the B.C. government.
Our project is being pursued primarily under the Oil and Gas Activities Act, and the Environmental Assessment Act. The submission to the Oil and Gas Commission and the Environmental Assessment Office is currently targeted for early 2014. Additionally there are various authorizations needed to support field testing programs.
Additional authorizations will be required to start construction activities, which will be pursued in a timely manner to meet the construction schedule. Other federal legislation that may be included in the regulatory framework for this project includes the Migratory Birds Convention Act, Fisheries Act, Navigable Waters Protection Act, Species at Risk Act and others.
