Understanding B.C.’s wildlife
The protection of our workers, wildlife and habitat is important to all of us. Potential impact to wildlife is mitigated by trying to avoid areas of specific habitat during critical timing (such as breeding and nesting), leaving vegetation buffers along watercourses, restricting access during and after construction and monitoring of habitat to ensure minimal disturbance. We also collect data to understand wildlife habitats, movements and other patterns to support construction planning and mitigation strategies.
Before, during and after pipeline construction, we’ll always maintain appropriate distances from wildlife.
Pipelines are the safest method to transport natural gas across long distances. An electric inspection device, known as a “smart PIG” will travel through PRGT, detecting the tiniest crack, flaw or sign of corrosion.
